Implant based reconstruction is a reconstructive procedure for women who have undergone a mastectomy (removal of one or both breasts) due to cancer, injury or other medical reasons. The surgery involves the placement of a breast implant to restore the shape and volume of the breast(s). It can benefit women who desire a more natural appearance after mastectomy and are looking for an alternative to flap reconstruction.
