Face Lift

Expert facelift surgery — also known as rhytidectomy — to tighten sagging skin, restore youthful facial contour, and deliver comprehensive, natural-looking rejuvenation.

WHAT IS A FACELIFT?

Ageing, Reversed.

A facelift — clinically known as rhytidectomy — is a surgical procedure that addresses the most significant visible signs of facial ageing: sagging skin, deep wrinkles, loss of contour, and jowling. By removing excess skin and tightening the underlying tissues of the face and neck, a facelift restores a naturally youthful appearance that no non-surgical treatment can replicate.

The procedure targets the mid and lower face, jowls, and upper neck — the areas most affected by the descent of skin and soft tissue that occurs with age. The remaining skin is redraped smoothly over the treated area, producing a refreshed, rested, and naturally toned result without the artificial, stretched look associated with older techniques.

Modern facelift surgery has been refined over decades to produce results that look entirely natural. Combined with a neck lift, brow lift, or blepharoplasty, it forms the cornerstone of comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Professor Hindocha tailors every facelift to the individual anatomy and goals of each patient.

YOUR ROAD TO RECOVERY

Four Weeks to a New You

Week 1

Rest & Protect

The most intensive phase. Swelling, bruising, and tightness across the face and neck are normal and expected. Drains are removed within the first few days. Keep the head elevated at all times and follow post-operative guidance closely.

Week 1–2

Healing Progresses

Sutures are removed at the follow-up appointment. Most bruising begins to fade. Light work and gentle daily activity can typically resume. Avoid strenuous exertion, heavy lifting, and sun exposure to the face.

Week 3–4

Looking More Like Yourself

Swelling reduces significantly and the new facial contours become increasingly visible. Social activity can comfortably resume for most patients. SPF protection over the healing incision areas is important.

Week 6–8+

The Reveal

The majority of post-operative swelling has resolved and final results begin to emerge. Scars continue to mature and fade. The full impact of the procedure — a naturally rejuvenated, refreshed face — becomes fully apparent.

THE TRANSFORMATION

What a Facelift Can Do

A facelift delivers the most comprehensive facial rejuvenation available in a single procedure. The results are both immediately visible and long-lasting — typically enduring ten years or more.

  • Tightening of sagging skin across the cheeks, jowls, and neck
  • Smoothing of deep facial wrinkles, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines
  • Restoration of youthful facial contour and definition
  • Improved jawline definition and significant reduction of jowling
  • A more rested, refreshed, and naturally youthful overall appearance
  • Long-lasting results that typically endure ten years or more

THE CASE FOR A FACELIFT

Why Thousands Choose Facelift Surgery

Comprehensive Rejuvenation

A facelift addresses multiple signs of ageing in a single procedure: sagging skin, deep wrinkles, jowling, and loss of definition. No other treatment — surgical or non-surgical — delivers this breadth of improvement.

Natural, Long-Lasting Results

Modern facelift techniques produce results that look entirely natural. The face appears refreshed and rested — not stretched. Results typically last ten years or more, far outlasting any injectable or non-surgical alternative.

Tailored to You

Every facelift is designed around the individual patient’s anatomy, degree of ageing, and aesthetic goals. The approach — whether a full facelift, mini facelift, or combination procedure — is chosen specifically for you.

A Procedure Refined Over Decades

Facelift surgery has been performed and refined for over a century. Today’s techniques are safer, more precise, and more natural in outcome than ever — with a track record of consistent, transformative results.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT APPROACH

Not All Facelifts Are the Same

The technique used is determined by the extent of facial ageing, the areas to be treated, and your individual anatomy and goals.

FULL FACELIFT

Rhytidectomy

The most comprehensive option, addressing the full mid and lower face, jowls, and neck. Ideal for patients with significant sagging, deep creases, or major loss of facial contour and definition.

MINI FACELIFT

Limited Incision Facelift

A less extensive approach suited to patients with mild to moderate ageing who wish to address early jowling and midface descent. Shorter incisions and a quicker recovery, with excellent results for the right patient.

EXTENDED FACELIFT

Facelift with Neck Lift

A facelift performed alongside a neck lift to address laxity below the chin and along the neck in the same session — delivering a comprehensive upper-to-lower facial transformation with a single recovery.

VOICES OF EXPERIENCE

Their Words, Not Ours

The results are beyond what I imagined. I look like myself — just ten years younger. Nobody has any idea I had surgery.

— M.B.

I was nervous about such a significant procedure but the care from consultation through to recovery was exceptional. I would do it again without hesitation.

— V.P.

The transformation is remarkable but completely natural. My face looks rested and refreshed — not pulled or artificial. I cannot recommend Professor Hindocha highly enough.

WHO PERFORMS YOUR SURGERY MATTERS

Experience, Artistry, and Precision

A facelift is one of the most technically demanding procedures in cosmetic surgery. The result — whether it looks natural and harmonious, or artificial and overdone — is entirely a product of the surgeon’s skill, judgement, and aesthetic sensibility. Professor Hindocha brings all three to every procedure.

Every patient receives a thorough consultation to assess facial anatomy, skin quality, degree of ageing, and personal goals before a surgical approach is agreed. The plan is designed to produce a result that looks like the best possible version of you — not someone else.

  • Specialist facial surgical expertise
  • Individually tailored surgical planning for every patient
  • Natural results — never stretched, never artificial
  • Private consultations with direct surgeon access
  • Comprehensive pre- and post-operative care
  • Trusted by patients across the UK

COULD A FACELIFT BE FOR YOU?

Is a Facelift the Right Choice?

A facelift is most appropriate for patients experiencing moderate to significant signs of facial ageing. Good candidates typically share several of the following characteristics:

  • Sagging or drooping skin across the cheeks, jowls, or neck
  • Deep facial wrinkles, nasolabial folds, or significant loss of facial contour
  • Good general health and suitability for general anaesthesia
  • A non-smoker, or willing to stop smoking at least 6 weeks before surgery
  • Realistic expectations about what facelift surgery can and cannot achieve
  • Commitment to the recovery process, including the initial hospital stay and follow-up care

GETTING READY

Preparing for Facelift Surgery

A facelift is a significant surgical procedure. The better you prepare, the smoother your surgery and recovery will be. Professor Hindocha’s team provides personalised pre-operative guidance, but these steps apply to most patients.

  • Stop smoking at least 6 weeks before surgery — smoking significantly impairs wound healing and increases complication risk
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, fish oil) as directed
  • Arrange for someone to accompany you to hospital and stay with you for the first 24–48 hours after discharge
  • Plan for 1–2 weeks off work and arrange cover for any physically demanding responsibilities
  • Avoid alcohol for at least 2 weeks before surgery
  • Follow all fasting and pre-operative instructions provided before your general anaesthetic

Facelift Surgery: Your Questions Answered

Honest answers to the questions patients ask most.

A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that tightens the skin and underlying tissues of the face and neck to reduce visible signs of ageing. It addresses sagging skin, deep wrinkles, jowling, and loss of facial contour — delivering comprehensive rejuvenation that no non-surgical treatment can replicate.
A facelift typically takes around 4 hours and is performed under general anaesthesia. An overnight hospital stay is required to ensure safe monitoring during the initial phase of recovery.
Yes. Modern facelift techniques are designed to produce a naturally refreshed appearance — not a stretched or artificial look. The result should resemble a younger, more rested version of yourself, not someone who has visibly “had work done”.
Most patients return to light work and gentle daily activities within 1–2 weeks. Visible bruising and swelling typically resolve over 3–4 weeks, with final results continuing to emerge and refine over several months.
Facelift results are long-lasting — typically 10 years or more. While the natural ageing process continues after surgery, the structural improvement achieved endures significantly longer than any non-surgical alternative.
Yes. A facelift is frequently combined with a neck lift, brow lift, or blepharoplasty for patients seeking more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Professor Hindocha will recommend the most appropriate combination during your consultation.
