VOLUME. CONTOUR. BALANCE.

Dermal Fillers

Injectable hyaluronic acid treatments that replace lost volume, support facial contours and soften deeper folds. Some change is usually visible straight away; the settled result is judged once any swelling has gone down.

ABOUT THIS TREATMENT

Replacing Lost Volume, Supporting Contours

As we age, the facial fat pads that give the face its youthful fullness gradually diminish. Cheeks flatten, the under-eye hollows deepen, lips thin, and folds deepen around the nose and mouth. Dermal fillers address this directly by replacing lost volume.

The gel used in modern dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA), a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the body’s own connective tissues. Once injected, it holds water in the tissue where it is placed, which is how it adds volume. Some change is usually visible straight away, and the shape settles over 2 to 4 weeks.

At Prof. Hindocha’s practice, filler placement is guided by a thorough understanding of facial anatomy and the principles of facial proportion. The aim is a balanced, natural result rather than an overfilled look.

FACIAL TREATMENT ZONES

Where Dermal Fillers Make a Difference

Filler can address volume loss and contour changes across multiple zones. Treatment is focused on the areas where change will have the most meaningful impact for your individual appearance.

LIPS

Lip Augmentation & Definition

Add volume to thinning lips, or define the lip border and cupid’s bow. Treatment is planned to suit your existing lip shape, without overdoing it.

LASTS: 6–9 months

CHEEKS

Cheek Volume & Contour

Replaces mid-face volume lost with age and adds support at the cheekbones. How much this changes the lower face varies from person to person.

LASTS: 12–18 months

NASOLABIAL FOLDS

Smile Line Softening

Aims to reduce the depth of lines running from the sides of the nose to the mouth corners. Placement is planned to soften the fold without creating an overfilled appearance.

LASTS: 9–12 months

TEAR TROUGH

Under-Eye Hollows

Treats hollowing and shadowing beneath the eyes, which can make people look tired however rested they feel. A delicate area, so suitability is checked carefully at consultation.

LASTS: 9–12 months

JAWLINE & CHIN

Jawline Definition

Adds definition along the jawline and projection at the chin, aiming for better lower-face balance without surgery.

LASTS: 12–18 months

MARIONETTE LINES

Mouth Corner Softening

Aims to soften the downward lines from the mouth corners that can give a downturned resting expression. Often planned alongside cheek treatment.

LASTS: 9–12 months

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

What to Expect in the Days That Follow

Day of Treatment

First Changes

Some change in volume is usually visible straight away. Some patients experience localised swelling, redness, or minor bruising at the injection sites. This is normal. Avoid touching the treated area and apply a cool compress if needed.

Days 1–3

Swelling Peak & Settling

Swelling may peak during this period, particularly with lip treatments. Avoid alcohol, heat, and strenuous exercise. The filler is integrating with surrounding tissue. Do not massage or manipulate the treated area.

Days 4–10

Shape Refining

Swelling resolves and the true shape of the treatment becomes clearer. Any bruising typically fades by day 7. The shape continues to settle during this period.

Week 2–4

Settled Result & Review

The settled result can usually be judged at the 2–4 week mark. A follow-up appointment with Prof. Hindocha assesses the outcome, reviews symmetry, and discusses any adjustments or next steps in your treatment plan.

WHAT TREATMENT AIMS FOR

What Dermal Filler Aims to Do

Filler adds volume at the time of treatment, and the shape settles over the following weeks as any swelling goes down. The aim is a result that looks natural rather than treated; how it looks and how long it lasts vary from person to person.

  • Replacing volume lost with age in the cheeks, lips and hollowed areas
  • Softening nasolabial folds, marionette lines and tear trough hollows
  • Improving facial balance and proportion
  • Adding support without the downtime of surgery
  • Typically lasting 6–18 months, depending on the area treated and the product used

HOW IT WORKS

Understanding the Science Behind Your Filler

Modern dermal fillers use cross-linked hyaluronic acid, a biocompatible gel that behaves similarly to the HA naturally found in skin and joint fluid. Because it is similar to a molecule the body already contains, it is widely used; like any injectable it still carries risks, which are explained at consultation.

The degree of cross-linking determines longevity and product behaviour. More heavily cross-linked products hold structure for longer and are used where lift and projection are needed. Softer formulations are selected for delicate areas like the tear trough and lips. Prof. Hindocha matches the product to the anatomy, not the other way round.

HYALURONIC ACID

Biocompatible & Naturally Occurring

HA is a sugar molecule found naturally in the body's connective tissue and joint fluid. Filler-grade HA is gradually broken down by the body over time.

REVERSIBILITY

Dissolvable with Hyaluronidase

Unlike permanent fillers, HA products can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if results need adjustment or full reversal. Permanent fillers cannot be dissolved in this way.

HOW IT ADDS VOLUME

Holds Water Where It Is Placed

HA filler holds water in the tissue where it is placed, which is how it adds volume.

WHY PATIENTS CHOOSE DERMAL FILLERS

The Advantages of Hyaluronic Acid Filler

Change Visible Early

Unlike treatments that work gradually over time, filler usually makes a visible change at the time of injection, which then settles over the following two weeks as any swelling goes down.

Reversible by Design

HA filler can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase if results need to be corrected or reversed. Permanent and semi-permanent fillers cannot be reversed in this way.

Long-Lasting, Not Permanent

Results typically last 6–18 months depending on the area and product. As filler gradually metabolises, results soften rather than disappear suddenly, so maintenance appointments can be planned at your own pace.

Similar to the Body's Own HA

HA is a molecule naturally present in the body’s connective tissue. Filler-grade HA draws in water where it is placed, which is how it adds volume.

IS THIS TREATMENT RIGHT FOR YOU?

Who Is a Good Candidate for Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are suitable for patients experiencing volume loss, deeper folds, or contour changes due to ageing. A consultation will confirm whether fillers are the most appropriate treatment for your specific concerns. Filler is also used to reshape the nose without surgery: see what a non-surgical nose job can and can’t do.

  • Adults noticing volume loss in the cheeks, temples, or under-eye area
  • Patients with deepening nasolabial folds, marionette lines, or thinning lips
  • Those seeking improved facial contour definition at the jawline, chin, or cheekbones
  • Individuals in good general health with no active skin infections in the target area
  • Patients not pregnant or breastfeeding and with no relevant bleeding disorders
  • Those with realistic expectations about what filler can and cannot achieve

After years of being unhappy with my breasts after breastfeeding, I'm so glad I trusted my instincts and waited until I found the right surgeon. From my first consultation, Professor Hindocha made me feel completely at ease and I knew I could trust him. I'm only a week post-op and already love my results. I feel incredibly lucky to have found him and truly believe I found the best surgeon.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions About Dermal Fillers

Honest answers to what we hear most often.

A topical or local anaesthetic is applied before treatment, and most modern HA fillers also contain lidocaine in the formulation. Most patients report mild pressure or a brief sharp sensation. Sensitivity varies by area, with the lips the most sensitive.
Results vary by area. Lip filler typically lasts 6–9 months; cheek and jawline filler 12–18 months; tear trough 9–12 months. Individual metabolism, lifestyle, and the volume used all affect longevity. Your team will advise at consultation.
Yes. HA filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if results need to be corrected or fully reversed. This is one of the key reasons HA fillers are preferred over permanent or semi-permanent alternatives: they can be dissolved.
Some localised swelling and bruising is common, particularly with lip treatments. Swelling typically peaks in the first 48–72 hours and resolves within 1–2 weeks. Bruising, if it occurs, usually fades within 5–7 days. Results should not be judged until swelling has fully settled.
Yes. Dermal fillers can be combined with other non-surgical treatments where more than one cause is involved. Profhilo and PRP layer well with filler to improve overall skin quality alongside volumisation.
Over-treatment is a genuine risk, which is why Prof. Hindocha takes a conservative, anatomy-led approach. The aim is balanced proportion, not maximum volume. Treatment can be staged so that changes build gradually and stay in keeping with your facial structure.
