Chemical Peels

Clinically controlled skin resurfacing that removes damaged surface cells to reveal smoother, clearer, more even-toned skin beneath.

ABOUT THIS TREATMENT

The Science of Skin Renewal

A chemical peel uses a carefully selected acid solution applied to the skin surface to break down and remove the outermost layer of dead or damaged cells. As those cells shed, the skin beneath — fresher, smoother, and more evenly pigmented — is revealed.

Chemical peels have been used in medical aesthetics for decades and remain one of the most clinically proven treatments for improving skin tone, texture, and clarity. They are effective for fine lines, uneven pigmentation, sun damage, acne scarring, and general skin dullness.

At Prof. Hindocha's practice, peel selection is matched to your skin type, concerns, and tolerance. A thorough skin assessment prior to treatment ensures the correct peel depth and formulation is chosen — maximising results while minimising unnecessary downtime.

First Follow-Up

The exact surgical approach — augmentation, reduction, lift or combination — is determined at consultation based on your individual anatomy and goals.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT PEEL

Three Depths. One Goal: Better Skin.

Peel strength is matched to your skin type, concerns, and the downtime you can accommodate. The formulation is always selected at consultation.

SUPERFICIAL

Light Peel

Targets the epidermis only. Minimal to no visible peeling. Ideal for general brightening, mild texture concerns, and first-time patients. Little to no social downtime. Suitable for regular maintenance.

DOWNTIME: Minimal

MEDIUM

TCA Peel

Reaches the papillary dermis. Visible peeling over 3–7 days. Effective for moderate pigmentation, deeper lines, acne scarring, and sun damage. The most commonly recommended depth for meaningful, lasting improvement.

DOWNTIME: 3–7 Days

DEEP

Phenol Peel

Penetrates to the reticular dermis. Reserved for significant sun damage, deep wrinkles, and pronounced scarring. Requires detailed clinical assessment. Delivers the most dramatic, long-lasting results.

DOWNTIME: 1–2 Weeks

YOUR SKIN'S JOURNEY

What to Expect After Your Peel

Day of Treatment

Application & Initial Response

The peel solution is applied to cleansed skin and left for a controlled period. You may feel a mild tingling or warmth. The solution is neutralised and post-peel products applied before you leave the clinic.

Days 1–2

Tightness & Early Peeling

Skin may feel tight and appear slightly flushed. Superficial peeling begins around the edges of the face. Keep the skin hydrated and avoid touching or picking. Your follow-up check is at this stage.

Days 3–5

Active Peeling Phase

The most visible phase of renewal. Shedding of the outermost skin layers occurs across treated areas. Continue gentle cleansing and apply prescribed moisturiser. Do not force the peeling — let it happen naturally.

Days 7–14

Fresh Skin Revealed

Peeling subsides and the new skin is fully visible. Expect smoother texture, improved tone, and a noticeable clarity. SPF protection is essential at this stage and beyond to preserve the results.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Clearer Skin. Smoother Texture. Lasting Confidence.

Results develop progressively as the skin heals and regenerates. Most patients notice the most significant change in the two weeks following treatment, with skin continuing to improve for up to a month as collagen remodelling takes effect.

  • Visibly smoother skin surface with reduced texture irregularities
  • Improved skin tone and reduction in uneven pigmentation
  • Reduction in fine lines and superficial wrinkles
  • Diminished appearance of acne scarring and post-inflammatory marks
  • A brighter, more luminous complexion that reflects light more evenly

PROTECTING YOUR RESULTS

“The peel is only half the treatment. How you care for your skin afterwards determines how long those results last.”

Your Post-Peel Aftercare Guide

You will leave your appointment with a complete aftercare pack and written instructions. The essentials to follow at home:

  • Apply SPF50 sunscreen every morning, regardless of weather or season
  • Use the prescribed gentle moisturiser twice daily — never let the skin dry out
  • Do not pick, peel, or forcibly remove shedding skin at any stage
  • Avoid direct sun exposure, saunas, steam rooms, and strenuous exercise for 7 days
  • Pause active ingredients (retinol, AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C) until fully healed
  • Attend your follow-up assessment 1–2 days post-treatment as instructed

WHY PATIENTS CHOOSE THIS TREATMENT

The Benefits of Chemical Peels

Decades of Clinical Evidence

Chemical peels are among the most studied and validated non-surgical skin treatments available. Their effectiveness for pigmentation, fine lines, and acne scarring is well-established across all skin types and age groups.

Tailored to Your Skin

Peel depth and formulation are matched to your skin type and concern — from a light glycolic peel for general brightening to a deeper TCA peel for marked sun damage or scarring. No two treatments are identical.

Stimulates New Collagen

Beyond removing damaged surface cells, peels trigger a wound-healing response in the deeper skin layers, stimulating new collagen and elastin formation. This improves skin firmness and elasticity over time.

Enhances Other Treatments

Chemical peels complement anti-wrinkle injectables, dermal fillers, and Profhilo. Peels address surface skin quality while other treatments target volume and dynamic lines — a combined plan delivers more comprehensive results.

What Our Patients Say

My skin looked dull and uneven for years. After the first peel I could see a genuine difference. By the third treatment, people were asking what I had been doing differently.

The team was very clear about what to expect during the peeling phase. That preparation made all the difference. The results were absolutely worth it.

— C.B.

I'd had pigmentation issues since my twenties. A course of medium peels changed my skin completely. I feel more confident without makeup now than I ever have.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions About Chemical Peels

Honest answers to what we hear most often.

Most patients describe a mild tingling or warming sensation during the application, particularly with medium-depth peels. Topical anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand to minimise discomfort. The sensation typically subsides within minutes of neutralisation.
Downtime depends on peel depth. A superficial peel may cause only mild flaking with no social downtime. A medium peel typically results in 3–7 days of visible peeling during which most patients prefer to avoid public-facing commitments.
A single peel produces noticeable results, but a course of 3–6 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is usually recommended for more significant concerns such as pigmentation or acne scarring. Your plan will be discussed at consultation.
We recommend avoiding makeup for at least 24–48 hours following treatment, and longer during the active peeling phase. Once the skin has settled, mineral-based makeup can usually be reintroduced. Your aftercare instructions will confirm the exact timeline.
Chemical peels can be used across a range of skin tones, but peel selection is critical. Deeper peels on darker skin tones carry a risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and require specialist assessment. Prof. Hindocha's team always selects a formulation appropriate for your Fitzpatrick skin type.
Post-peel aftercare includes daily SPF50 sunscreen, a prescribed gentle moisturiser, and avoiding direct sun exposure, heat, and active skincare ingredients (retinol, AHAs, BHAs) until the skin has fully healed. You leave with a complete aftercare pack and written instructions.
