Breast Implant Exchange

Safely replace or upgrade your breast implants with specialist care tailored to your anatomy and goals.

ABOUT THIS SERVICE

Expert Breast Implant Exchange Surgery

Patients considering breast implant replacement should first consult with a certified cosmetic surgeon who can assess their aesthetic objectives and recommend the best size and shape for the revision. The size and projection of the breasts can alter with ageing, pregnancy, and weight fluctuations.

If your implant ruptures, deflates, or changes position, breast implant exchange surgery may be necessary. Surgery is always highly individualised — achieving the perfect result may involve modifying the breast tissues in addition to replacing the implant.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions

Everything you need to know about breast implant exchange.

The procedure typically takes around 3 hours. The exact duration depends on complexity, including whether any tissue modification is required alongside the implant exchange.
Yes. Breast implant exchange is performed under general anaesthesia — you will be fully asleep throughout and will not feel any discomfort.
You can change to a different size, shape, profile, or implant material. Prof. Hindocha will guide you through the most suitable options for your anatomy during consultation.
Most patients return to light, desk-based work within 2–3 weeks. Those in more physically demanding roles should wait 4–6 weeks, guided by your surgeon’s assessment.
It can be. Revision surgery is often more technically demanding as existing tissue, scar capsule, and implant condition must all be assessed. Prof. Hindocha specialises in these cases.
In most cases, existing incisions are re-used so no additional scarring is created. Where new incisions are required they are placed to minimise visibility, and all scars fade significantly over 12–18 months.
