SMOOTH CONTOURS. FIRMER ARMS.

Arm Lift

Surgical removal of excess skin and fat from the upper arms for a firmer, more toned and contoured appearance.

ABOUT THIS SERVICE

Restore Confidence in Your Arms

People with loose or sagging skin in the upper arm area — often resulting from significant weight loss, ageing, or other factors — can greatly benefit from arm lift surgery. The procedure removes excess skin and fat from the upper arms and tightens the remaining tissue for a more toned, contoured appearance.

The scar from an arm lift is typically positioned along the inside or back of the arm, keeping it as discreet as possible and out of sight in most clothing. For patients seeking broader body contouring, an arm lift is frequently performed alongside other procedures — and liposuction can also be incorporated to address additional localised fat deposits.

Prof. Hindocha tailors each arm lift to the individual, taking into account the degree of skin laxity, the patient’s goals, and their overall health to achieve a result that feels natural and proportionate.

RECOVERY TIMELINE

Your Path to Recovery

Week 1

First Follow-Up

Your first post-operative appointment takes place within the first week after discharge. Prof. Hindocha will assess your healing, check the incisions, and address any questions or concerns.

Weeks 1–2

Return to Light Work

Most patients feel comfortable returning to light, desk-based work within one to two weeks. Avoid lifting, reaching overhead, or any strenuous activity during this period.

Weeks 2–4

Moderate Activity

From weeks two to four, you may gradually resume moderately physical tasks. Continue wearing your compression garment and avoid heavy lifting or raising your arms above shoulder height.

Weeks 4–6

Full Recovery

By six weeks, most patients are cleared to return to the gym and full physical activity. Your arm contour continues to refine over the following months as residual swelling fully resolves.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

What You Can Achieve

An arm lift delivers lasting improvements to the shape and profile of your upper arms, helping you feel confident and comfortable in all kinds of clothing.

  • Significantly firmer, more toned upper arms
  • Reduction in loose or hanging skin
  • Improved confidence wearing sleeveless clothing
  • Smooth, contoured arm profile from shoulder to elbow
  • Long-lasting results with a stable body weight

WHY CHOOSE THIS

The Benefits of Arm Lift Surgery

Permanent Skin Removal

An arm lift surgically removes excess skin that cannot be addressed through exercise or diet alone, delivering results simply not achievable by any other means.

Discreet Scarring

Incisions are carefully positioned along the inside or back of the arm, making scarring as discreet as possible and invisible in most everyday clothing.

Combines Well with Other Procedures

Arm lift surgery pairs naturally with liposuction and other body contouring procedures, allowing a more complete and balanced transformation within a single surgical plan.

Lasting Confidence

Patients consistently report improved confidence and comfort in sleeveless clothing — results that are maintained with a stable body weight over the long term.

SCARRING & HEALING

What to Expect from Your Scar

An arm lift leaves a scar along the inside or back of the upper arm. With proper care and time, most scars become significantly less noticeable.

WEEKS 1–4

Initial Healing

The incision appears red and slightly raised. Keep the area clean and dry, avoid sun exposure, and follow all wound care instructions. Silicone gel or strips may be recommended from around week three.

MONTHS 1–3

Scar Maturation

The scar softens and flattens as collagen remodels. It may remain pink or slightly raised. Continue silicone scar management and protect the area from UV exposure to prevent pigmentation changes.

MONTHS 6–18

Significant Fading

By 12–18 months, most arm lift scars have faded to a pale, fine line that is barely visible at rest. Placed on the inner arm, the scar is naturally hidden in most everyday situations.

AFTER WEIGHT LOSS

Is This Right for You After Weight Loss?

Significant weight loss — whether through diet and exercise or bariatric surgery — is a tremendous achievement. However, it often leaves behind excess skin that no amount of toning can resolve. The upper arms are one of the most commonly affected areas, and many patients feel that loose arm skin holds them back from fully enjoying the results of their transformation.

Prof. Hindocha works sensitively with post-weight-loss patients, taking time to understand their journey and develop a surgical plan that completes and celebrates it.

  • Achieved significant weight loss and are now at a stable weight
  • Struggling with loose or hanging skin on the upper arms
  • Feel self-conscious wearing short sleeves or sleeveless clothing
  • Find that loose skin limits your movement or comfort during exercise
  • Want to complete your body transformation with arm contouring

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions

Everything you need to know about arm lift surgery.

A brachioplasty, or arm lift, is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the upper arms and tightens the remaining tissue for a firmer, more contoured appearance. It is particularly effective for patients with skin laxity that cannot be resolved through exercise.
Incisions are placed along the inside or back of the upper arm to keep scarring as discreet as possible. Scars typically fade and soften considerably over 12–18 months and are generally not visible when the arms are at your sides.
Yes. Liposuction is commonly combined with an arm lift to address localised fat deposits alongside excess skin removal. Prof. Hindocha will advise whether this is appropriate during your consultation.
Most patients return to light work within one to two weeks. Moderate activity can resume from two to four weeks, and full physical activity — including the gym — is typically cleared by six weeks after surgery.
Results are long-lasting provided your body weight remains stable. Significant weight fluctuations can affect the outcome over time, but the improvements achieved through surgery are permanent.
The cost varies depending on the complexity of your procedure and whether additional treatments are combined. A personalised quote is provided following your consultation with Prof. Hindocha.
