COMFORT. CONFIDENCE. CARE.

Labiaplasty

A precise, private surgical procedure to reduce or reshape the labia minora — addressing physical discomfort, asymmetry, or self-consciousness with sensitivity and expertise.

ABOUT THIS SERVICE

What Is Labiaplasty?

Women with enlarged or asymmetrical labia may experience physical discomfort and self-consciousness that affects their daily lives — from chafing and irritation during exercise to a lack of confidence in intimate situations. Labiaplasty is a precise surgical procedure to reduce or reshape the labia minora, addressing these concerns and restoring comfort and confidence.

The procedure involves carefully removing or reshaping excess tissue through a small, discreet incision to create a more symmetrical and comfortable result. It is performed under local anaesthesia or IV sedation as a day case, and recovery is typically quicker than many patients expect.

Labiaplasty is one of the more personal procedures Prof. Hindocha performs, and it is handled throughout with complete sensitivity and discretion. Every consultation is a confidential, judgement-free conversation where patients are encouraged to discuss their concerns openly and entirely at their own pace.

COSMETIC OR FUNCTIONAL?

“Labiaplasty is not purely cosmetic — for many women, it is about freedom from daily discomfort and the ability to live without limitation.”

Functional or Cosmetic — or Both?

Labiaplasty is sought for many different reasons, and all of them are valid. Some women are primarily motivated by physical discomfort — chafing during exercise, irritation from clothing, or pain during everyday activity. Others are seeking a cosmetic change that has long affected their confidence. Many are motivated by both.

There is no single ‘right’ reason to pursue labiaplasty, and Prof. Hindocha approaches every consultation without judgement. What matters is understanding your concerns fully and being honest with you about what the procedure can and cannot achieve.

  • Physical discomfort, chafing, or irritation during daily activity
  • Pain or restriction during exercise, cycling, or sport
  • Asymmetry or appearance causing self-consciousness
  • Discomfort or lack of confidence in intimate situations

RECOVERY TIMELINE

Returning to Normal Life

Days 1–2

Back to Light Work

Most patients are comfortable returning to light, desk-based work within one to two days. Keep the area clean, wear loose clothing, and avoid any pressure or friction on the treated site.

Week 1

First Check-Up

Your first post-operative appointment takes place within the first week. Prof. Hindocha will assess healing and answer any questions. Avoid baths, swimming, and tampons during this period.

Weeks 1–2

Moderate Activity

Light exercise such as walking can resume from week one. Avoid strenuous activity, cycling, or anything that places pressure on the area until cleared at your follow-up appointment.

Weeks 2–4

Full Recovery

Most patients are fully recovered by two to four weeks. Prof. Hindocha will confirm when all activities — including the gym and intimacy — can safely resume based on your individual healing.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

What Labiaplasty Can Achieve

Labiaplasty can make a meaningful difference to both physical comfort and personal confidence — often in ways that patients describe as life-changing.

  • Relief from physical discomfort, chafing, and irritation
  • Improved comfort during exercise, cycling, and physical activity
  • A more symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing appearance
  • Greater confidence and ease in intimate situations
  • Long-lasting results with normal, stable anatomy

A COMMON CONCERN

Will It Affect Sensation or Sexual Function?

This is one of the most common concerns patients raise at consultation, and it is an entirely understandable one. The short answer is: when performed carefully by an experienced surgeon, labiaplasty does not affect sexual sensation.

The procedure targets excess labial tissue only. The nerve supply responsible for sensation is preserved throughout. Prof. Hindocha uses a technique designed to minimise any disruption to the surrounding anatomy — the goal is a result that improves your quality of life in every sense, not one that creates new concerns.

For some patients, the removal of excess or uncomfortable tissue actually improves their experience of intimacy by eliminating the physical discomfort that had previously been present. This is something Prof. Hindocha is happy to discuss openly and in detail at your consultation.

RECOVERY MILESTONES

Intimacy and Recovery

A practical guide to the recovery milestones most relevant to patients considering labiaplasty.

WEEKS 1–2

Initial Healing

Avoid baths, swimming, tampons, and tight-fitting clothing. Sexual activity should not take place during this period. Focus on gentle hygiene and following all wound care instructions carefully.

WEEKS 2–4

Continued Rest

Sexual activity and strenuous exercise should still be avoided. Swelling and sensitivity will continue to reduce during this period. Most patients feel largely comfortable by the end of week three or four.

WEEKS 4–6

Gradual Return

Most patients are cleared to resume intimate activity and all physical exercise by six weeks. Prof. Hindocha will confirm the right timing for you individually at your follow-up appointment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your Questions, Answered

Everything you need to know about labiaplasty.

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure to reduce or reshape the labia minora — the inner vaginal lips. It is performed for both cosmetic and functional reasons, including discomfort during physical activity, chafing, asymmetry, and self-consciousness about appearance.
When performed carefully by an experienced surgeon, labiaplasty does not affect sexual sensation. The procedure targets excess tissue only, preserving the nerve supply that underpins sensation. Prof. Hindocha will discuss this in detail at your consultation.
No — labiaplasty addresses both cosmetic and functional concerns. Many patients seek the procedure primarily to relieve physical discomfort caused by enlarged or asymmetrical labia, including chafing, irritation during exercise, and discomfort in daily life. Both motivations are equally valid.
Recovery is one of the quickest of any surgical procedure. Most patients return to light work within one to two days. Moderate activity resumes at one to two weeks, and full recovery — including return to all physical activity and intimacy — is typically within two to four weeks, subject to Prof. Hindocha’s assessment.
Scarring is minimal. The incision is placed within the natural tissue of the labia, where it heals and fades into the surrounding anatomy. With proper care, residual marks become very discreet over time.
Suitable candidates are women with enlarged or asymmetrical labia who experience physical discomfort, self-consciousness, or both. You should be in good general health, at a stable weight, and have realistic expectations about outcomes. A confidential consultation is the best first step.
